STUDY ABROAD

Many Judaic Studies concentrators spend all or part of an academic year studying in Israel where they have an opportunity to hone their language skills and see and participate in the daily life of the Jewish state. The Center encourages this and other experiences abroad and offers counseling about educational institutions and programs as well as assistance in selecting courses that will meet degree requirements.

The Zippori Archeaeological Summer Course 2000, a project of the Zippori Expedition of the Institutes of Archaelology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, is a popular opportunity for study abroad. The major goals for the 2000 excavation season are to reveal the continuation of a monumental building excavated during the 1999 season; unearthing additional mosaic pave stores; determining the side entrance to the western church along the decumanos; and exposing and studying the Roman and Early Byzantine domiciles unearthed in the eastern side of the excavation site. The 2000 season at Zippori will be held from June 25 to July 28, 2000.
