Comet Hyakutake
by Doug Scobel
The photographs on these pages were taken by Doug Scobel with an Olympus OM-1, piggybacked on the
McMath 24” telescope, using Fuji Fujichrome ISO 400 film. They were all scanned from slides on an
HP PhotoSmart scanner, and then digitally processed.
Photograph taken March 27, 1996. Exposure: 28mm lens, 5 minutes, f/2.8. Compare the length of the
comet’s tail with the size of the Big and Little Dippers.
