Mission Statement
With increased pressures on our world's plant
and animal life, the success of endangered species recovery programs is
more important than ever. The major downfalls faced by professionals involved
in these programs, however, are based in miscommunication—scientists do
not talk to policy makers and policy makers do not consult scientists. The
Endangered Species UPDATE, an independently funded quarterly journal
published by the University of Michigan's School of Natural Resources and
Environment, recognizes the paralyzing power of poor communication. The
UPDATE's primary goal is to bridge the chasm between policy and
science.
