1923: Richard King born

1933: Richard receives piano lessons from his uncle

1934: Richard picks up the saxophone and the clarinet

1940: Richard graduates from high school and leaves for Oklahoma University to become a band teacher

1942: Richard is drafted into the US Army for WWII, plays clarinet/saxophone in the Rainbow Division band

1946: Richard and Patricia are married in Ann Arbor

1947: Russ King born

1949: Richard finishes schooling, earning himself both bachelors and masters degrees in music theory from the University of Michigan. He teaches privately from his home and is a teacher's assistant at U of M

1950: Charlotte King born

1951: Richard begins working for Grinnell's in Ypsilanti, first teaching then selling pianos

1952: Martha King born

1954: Jim King born

1955: Rob King born, Richard King manages at Grinnell's

1960: Julie King born, Rob King starts piano lessons

1961: Richard quits Grinnell's, opens up King's Keyboard House on Liberty Street (now Afternoon Delight)

1963: Jeff King born, Rob works at King's Keyboard House

1964: Jim works at Keyboard House and starts playing guitar

1965: Julie King starts taking piano lessons

1967: King's Keyboard House advertises in the Ann Arbor Observer, Rob King starts playing drums

1968: King's Keyboard House moves to Main Street (now Generations)

1970: Jim buys organ from father, starts playing at Bimbo's on the Hill (now Paesano's)

1970-1990: Jim plays keyboard professionally with multiple groups

1972: Rob King plays drums in his first band, starts moving pianos at King's Keyboard House

1974: Rob King graduates from Community High School

1976: King's Keyboard House moves to Liberty (now Café Japon), Jim and Patty marry

1977: Alex King born, Jim and Patty divorce, Rob King joins Destroy All Monsters, King's Keyboard House recognized as an incorporation

1978: Julie King graduates from high school, Jim King works for Ford Motor Company

1979: Alex King starts playing the drums at age 2

1980: Rob King leaves Destroy All Monsters, starts moving pianos full time at King's Keyboard House

1981: Jim takes piano lessons from Dennis Tini of Wayne State University, Alex receives first drum set

1983: Julie King begins working full time at King's Keyboard House, opens King's Keyboard House in Toledo

1985: Toledo store closes, Julie moves back to work at store in Ann Arbor

1986: Jim King and his band King Cool appear on MTV with their song "You Make It Hard."

1987: Alex moves in with Jim in house off Church Street, Jim moves pianos with Rob at King's Keyboard House

1988: Jim starts selling organs, then electric keyboards, then in charge of all sales in piano department at King's Keyboard House, Alex moves back to California with his mother

1989: Alex King plays in first band at age 12

1996: King's Keyboard House moves to East Stadium (present location), Alex King graduates from high school

1991: King's Keyboard House receives a Certificate of Appreciation from the Ann Arbor Lions Club

2004: Charlotte King passes away

2005: Alex King moves back to Ann Arbor

2006: Richard King retires, Jim King takes over the store, Richard and Patricia celebrate 60 years of marriage, Julie King opens Julie's Music, Alex King begins working for Julie
