The Great Wall of Los Angeles is a cultural landmark and one of the country's largest monuments to inter-racial harmony.  This monument began its creation in 1974, under the work of director and founder, Judith F. Baca.  Under the direction of Chicana artist, Baca, the Great Wall was completed in just over five summers. Stretching a half-mile in length (2,754 ft), the Great Wall is the longest mural in the world.  Each section of the mural represents the history of ethnic peoples of California, beginning with the prehistoric times and ending with the 1950s.
