About Us

Pete, Tom and Rob with a few younger club members. Are those rabbit ears? Awe, man! Jeff and Erin hanging out on court. Yes, Erin endorses the sentiments expressed on the plate! Honorary club member Tim McCormick poses with his shirt. We're sure he treasures it!

Founding Members: who we are and why we are doing this.

Pete AmRhein
Pete's days as a basketball junkie and UM "frat rat" in the early 80's taught him that college basketball, especially at Michigan, is one of the greatest outlets for fan enthusiasm, creativity, class, and fun. While the world often implies to us as adults that we should "just sit down and be quiet", your new Club will encourage you to do just the opposite. Our primary job till now has been to take this from an idea to reality, and now it is to take it from reality to a club the U of M family will all be proud of and want to be a part of. Jeff graduated with his BA from Michigan in 1982.

Jeff Holzhausen
Jeff Holzhausen has been known around the Michigan campus since 1992 as SuperFan for his crowd participation at basketball, football, hockey, and various campus activities. Since the inception of the Maize Rage, the student group has voted on the reigning student SuperFan, with the 2008-2009 season bringing us to SuperFan IX. Jeff will help the Blue Rage coordinate cheers, chants, and taunts with the Maize Rage and SuperFan IX. Jeff graduated with his BA from Michigan in 1996, and has two Masters degrees from Michigan. He is currently a proud employee of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

Rob Thomas
Rob's favorite quote, from the Eiffel 65 song Blue (Da Ba Dee): "I am blue. I would die if I were green." His favorite b-ball moment: in the early 90's when we were chanting "throw a chair, Bobby, throw a chair!" when we played Indiana. Rob is also an employee of The University of Michigan, mere yards from the Athletic Department Offices, and is a planning manager with "mad" organizational skills. Rob has specific visions and ideas, with even more specific ways to accomplish them. Rob got BA from Michigan in 1991, and got an MBA from Michigan in 2000.

Tom Young
Tom Young, proud father of former Wolverine Center Chris Young, and "insider program advocate" who's had great program discussions with the likes of John Beilein, Steve Fisher, Tim McCormick, Jimmy King, and Tommy Amaker. Tom has so much game experience cheering with the Maize Rage and hearing first-hand how our program works, that his fresh ideas and leadership will make our cheering section one of the templates for alumni/non-student fan clubs. As an example, he has already enlisted the assistance and input from alumni Wolverine cheerleaders.
