Although
the University of Michigan Medical School has always had a large number
of medical students with musical talent, it was not until recently that
students gave the group a name. Members chose to honor Alexander Borodin
(1833-1887), a Russian physician-scientist and musician whose dual pursuit
of medical science and music is continued by the Borodin Society today.
Many extended descriptions of Alexander Borodin exist on the net, including
this
one at Emory University.
