Classification and Regression Trees Using JMP®
November 15 and 17, 2011
Edward Rothman, Kathy Welch, Nidhi Talwar, and David Childers
Data Mining is all about gaining knowledge by extracting information from data. It is the process of uncovering hidden patterns from large amounts of data and producing good predictive models that provide us with insight and enable us to make decisions that increase revenues, reduce costs, control risk, identify fraud, or achieve many other objectives.
This workshop is intended for any researcher interested in learning about theory and applications of Data Mining using JMP software. Topics covered will include Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, Regression Trees, and Classification Trees. Concepts emphasized will include defining and setting an objective function as well as partitioning a data set into training and testing sets.
This workshop will include introductory lectures and hands-on demonstrations and examples with real data sets. Through the use of the JMP® software package, which combines powerful statistical analysis with a graphical user interface for ease of use, workshop participants will be able to get started with data mining techniques quickly and be able to apply the concepts that are introduced.
