The Unbreakable Bond: Midwestern Authors and the Nobel Prize

The Midwest region of the United States is known for its diverse landscape, people, and culture and has been home to many celebrated authors. This page provides the outline of the authors from this region that have won the Nobel Prize in Literature. For each writer we have included a brief biography, an overview of their writings with an emphasis on the works studied in class, and an analysis of what distinct characteristics of each led to their winning of the Nobel Prize.
