Title: Computational Models of Epilepsy: From Detailed Models to Concepts
Abstract:

In this talk, I will review some of many models for epilepsy that appear in the literature. These range from the highly detailed models of Roger Traub and his collaborators to simple rate-based models using concepts like firing rates. These types of models are not necessarily incompatible. In particular, I will show how the latter can sometimes be quantitatively related to the former. The motivation for such simplifications is that this will allow us to explore the spatial properties of experimental models of epilepsy and with luck and persistence, applications to clinical questions.
