The financial and housing obligations associated with sorority membership are important to understand. The glossary to the right explains the different financial obligations a student may experience during her collegiate years. First year expenses tend to be higher because of one-time fees, some of which are paid directly to the national organizations. Room and board is a bargain, averaging less than it costs to live in a double or single in a residence hall. Dues may include all or only certain social activities. There may also be various deposits, which although refundable, may impact a student's financial situation. Standard policy requires that chapter houses be full before a member may consider living out. Women who wish to study abroad will likely have some financial obligation. The amount will vary, especially if you wish to live-in for only one semester and/or break your sorority housing contract. If a woman's sorority membership ends at some point, she is responsible for everything due up until the date of official resignation. Each chapter has provided specific financial and housing information. Click on the chapters to the left for individual chapter costs and policies. We hope the following information is useful, but we encourage women to ask questions during recruitment. |
