Beatrice enjoys school, even reaching the top 20% of her class. She hopes to further her education by attending college in the future and becoming a nurse. When she isn't studying or helping out with chores, she likes to read and spend time with her friends from school.

Her family grows maize, beans and sweet potatoes on their family farm. Her family uses a hole in the ground for their toilet, much like the rest of the houses in her community. Sanitation and hygiene, in general, are major problems in the community. Also, the nearest health facility is almost two hours away.
