about the red cross at the university of michigan

The American Red Cross Club at the University of Michigan was founded in 2005 and has been providing regular events and programs which aim to support the mission of the American Red Cross on the University of Michigan's campus and within the local community. Guided by the fundamental principles of the American Red Cross and its mission to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies, the American Red Cross Club at the University of Michigan will learn, practice and exemplify humanitarian values through youth service projects, education sessions, and partnerships with other community groups.

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Our club is partitioned into five main committees:
Blood services
Community services
Health, safety, and emergency services
Fundraising
Public relations

This past semester, the club has been more active than ever in the community by donating over 1600+ hours of service through many different events. Every year we host our annual Run for Red 5K, a run meant to inspire the community with the theme of "what do you run for." We also offer first responder medical training.
