About the Club

The University of Michigan Amateur Radio Club operates the Amateur Radio Station W8UM, communicating with all parts of the world and even outer space. The club sponsors many operating events and supports many interesting radio-related projects throughout the year. We are an easy-going bunch of students, faculty, staff, and alumni, that share an interest in radio and the goal of helping others to enjoy our favorite hobby.

Amateur Radio is for everyone! Our club membership includes students, faculty, staff, and alumni from all over U of M, including the College of Engineering, the College of Literature, Arts, and Sciences, the Medical School, the Law School, and others. U-M alumni club members include journalists, medical doctors, attorneys, business people, as well as scientists and engineers.
