OUR BRIDGE
CHARAZANI, BOLIVIA

Our student group traveled to the Charazani province of Bolivia in May 2014 to build a 42 meter span permanent suspended footbridge in a small village in the Andes. We worked with locals to construct the bridge that would grant them access to medical supplies, schools, and markets found in the nearby village during the rainy season as none of these essentials reside within the village itself. Previously the villagers were crossing old tree trunks precariously placed along the river bed.

During construction, we worked hand in hand to guide the villagers toward creating a well built final product. Upon completion of the bridge, the villagers held a ceremony thanking us for the help and thanking their own people for their hard work.

OUR UPCOMING PROJECT
LOCATION: TBD

We are planning to construct another bridge for the summer of 2015. An application has been sent to the parent organization and we are waiting to hear back regarding the location and design parameters for this new bridge. Most likely this bridge will be another permanent suspended foot bridge.

We will spend the 2014-2015 academic year holding fundraising events and working on the bridge design. Upon completion of the design, we will have the design reviewed by professional engineers working for B2P and begin formulating travel plans. We are looking for both interested student members and financial supporters.
