Team Info

The University of Michigan Roller Hockey Club is a Division 1 member of the Midwest Collegiate Roller Hockey League (MCRHL), one of the seven conferences that comprise the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association. The team is consistently one of the most competitive programs in the nation, always finishing near the top of the standing in the MCRHL and earning a bid to the National Championship Tournament.

Club Structure

The UMRHC is comprised of two teams, an A team and a B team. The A team competes against other Division 1, Division II, and Division III schools in the MCRHL, while the B team competes against other universities in the B Division of the MCRHL. The club is run by a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treaurer, and the teams are coached by Head Coach Scott Janowiak.

Season Structure

Open tryouts for the UMRHC are held at the end of September each year. The MCRHL regular season begins in mid-October and runs through the end of February. Teams compete in "weekend events," where many clubs travel to one location and each play four games over the weekend. On average, the UMRHC competes in 5 of these events throughout the season. The MCRHL regional championships are held at the beginning of March, and afterwards, bids are handed out to teams across the country for the National Championship Tournament, which is traditionally held during the first week of April.

Administrative

Dues for the team are $700 for new players, and $600 for returning players. Practices are held at the JCC Inline Hockey Center in West Bloomfield, MI. Rides are arranged for players who do not have access to a car on campus for all practices and games.
