Security on the Web (and Kerberos)

KPlugin Past

KPlugin (or KLP) started out as a Kerberized Local Proxy that ran on the client machine, and filtered all web access to see if your Kerberos credentials were needed for any given web request. If you needed to prove who you were, it sent your Kerberos credentials along with your web request, so that the server could identify you and give you the right information.

This proved to be unwieldy and resource intensive on the client machines (where the browser is running), so running a separate proxy server was discarded in favor of using a Netscape plugin to handle the same function.

There have proved to be some serious limitations in the Netscape plugin model, however.
