on a document will fail to start the correct application. Both of
these problems can be worked around by copying the application to a
local disk on the Macintosh.
as this says, applications that have desktop database information
stored locally will have everything set up correctly. i'm planning on
adding desktop database support to hfs in the 2.3.x series, but i'm
pretty busy right now finishing up. in any case, you could solve this
by just sharing a writeable mount point. e.g.,
/dir/name/volume
/dir/name/volume/.AppleDesktop
/dir/name/volume/mount
/dir/name/volume/mount2
/dir/name/volume/mount3
will work.
