Course Description
Nutrition (Energy Consumption) and Physical Activity's (Energy Expenditure) Relationship to Body Weight Regulation

  • Part 1 - Nutrition, metabolism, and energy transfer (topics include nutrients in food, optimal nutrition for exercise and sport, energy utilization during exercise, and the bioenergetics of food and physical activity.)
  • Part 2 - Techniques for evaluation of human body composition (topics include assessment of body fat and lean body mass, obesity, weight control, modification of eating and exercise behaviors, diet practices: starvation, fad diets, optimal food intake, and psycho-social aspects of weight control: cultural and gender differences).
  • Part 3 - Physiologic considerations in total fitness (topics include strength. anaerobic and aerobic power, aging, exercise and health).
