Introduction
Interdisciplinary Group for Research on Innovation (IGRI)
Established in 2005, IGRI is committed to research on innovation that is grounded in multiple disciplinary fields. Our interdisciplinary approach is necessitated by the complexity inherent in the concept and process of innovation, and by the mere fact of how many sets of factors are needed to successfully innovate. In training a wider but keener lens to factors such as organizations’ spatial, social and information processes, and investigating associations such as those between invention and adoption within an organization and the organization’s social structure, we intend to thereby develop practical theories of how innovation happens. The development of practical theories of innovation would entail identifying and understanding the processes and resources that are critical to innovation.
