MEDMA was founded at the University of Michigan in the Fall of 2005. In just a few years we’ve grown from a group of five to hundreds with a growing number of friends and fans who show up to our events. Our goal is to spread awareness and enjoyment of electronic dance music, and to achieve that goal socially. Our members are composed of music lovers, producers, DJs, EDM initiates, and people who love to get down and dance.

Here is a brief overview of MEDMA's evolution:
2015-Present
- Over the past decade of MEDMA's existence, traditions and culture became treasured- but stagnant. In late 2015, the present MEDMA leaders ushered in the modern era of MEDMA with open arms. Today, MEDMA is focused on a more open, inclusive enviornment that fuses the decade old MEDMA traditions with the avant-garde. MEDMA's forward-looking approach pioneered the way for alternative expressions of electronic music, notably through art, expression, and technology.
- Recently, MEDMA introduced hands-on opportunities for members to produce and mix music through monthly or bi-monthly workshops. With the launch of our first Noobie Night in Fall '15, our aim to help new members DJ in a relaxing, helpful, and fun environment was a success that we plan to continue in the coming years.
- We plan monthly meet-ups at Club Above in downtown Ann Arbor and 3-4 monthly events at Necto in Ann Arbor as well.
- Aside from planning club events, MEDMA members are actively attending electronic events across the state and country. From our yearly meet-ups at Movement Electronic Music Festival, to concerts, to exploring the famous electronic scene in Detroit, MEDMA is on the bleeding edge of the scene.
- Underneath it all, MEDMA is the haven for electronic music lovers of all kinds. Throughout the last year, MEDMA has had the opportunity to DJ at multiple house and fraternity parties, as well as on and off-campus events.
