Mission Statement / Goal
Our goal is to share our enjoyment of electronic music, and to achieve that goal socially.
Our members are composed of music lovers, producers, DJs, EDM initiates, and people who love to get down and dance.
The purpose of MEDMA is to spread awareness and support the discussion of electronic music and associated events at the University of Michigan and beyond.
History
Michigan Electronic Dance Music Association (MEDMA) was founded back in 2005 when a few friends decided to spread their love of electronic music. It started out when the small group used to meet, carpool to concerts, and have a great time every week. Then they thought – why not start a club? And so, MEDMA was born.
About MEDMA
Today, we have over 700 people on our mailing list, and 70 Core members who actively work to expose students to a wider range of dance music. We go to tons of concerts and hang out together, and MEDMA DJs spin at countless house parties and frats, introducing hundreds of students to subgenres of electronic music.
MEDMA creates and organizes events related to EDM. Being a MEDMA member means going to fantastic concerts and events, having access to amazing equipment, hanging out & hearing new music, and being able to mix or DJ to a wider audience. We frequently DJ at campus events (such as Fraternities & Co-Ops) and at Necto every second Thursday of the month for our Impulse Series.
You’ll be able to learn how to DJ and produce EDM at our workshops, and build connections with professionals in the EDM scene. You can listen to fresh music that’s just released and discuss it. We also work closely with the Southwestern Michigan EDM community, and actively bring in artists to concerts.
On the social side, MEDMA is composed of a wide variety of individuals, so you’ll be able to meet people and form new friendships. As a member, you can share music with other members, hang out, and plan carpools to far away concerts.

Members’ Responsibilities
Being a member of MEDMA means that you’ve paid your dues (literally), are on the MCommunity email list, and attend events fairly regularly. Our group is very relaxed & friendly, so it’s extremely easy to maintain your membership.
MEDMA Core
MEDMA Core is the name of the group of students who are most actively involved in MEDMA activities. These members are those who can make Exposure mixes, DJ at events, run for leadership positions, and have an active say in all decisions. The Bottomline
MEDMA is dedicated to electronic music, and we really just like to have fun. Music is great.
