Emergency Contraception

Emergency contraceptive pills (ECPs) are the most commonly used method of emergency contraception. They can be used following unprotected intercourse or unsuccessful contraception to prevent pregnancy. ECPs do not cause abortion; rather, they inhibit ovulation, fertilization or implantation before a pregnancy occurs.
