Aunt Joanie's son, Bobby, contacted us in the
spring of 2008 to let us know that they were throwing a surprise 70th
birthday party for Joanie. I asked Kristin and Carol to go as a
family, and we made the trek to Minersville on the hottest weekend of June
(in fact, one of the hottest weekends of the whole summer). It was
well worth the long drive. She was completely surprised!

After a much-needed cool shower and brief rest, we drove to Port Carbon, Carol's childhood hometown
And finally, we toured Pottsville, home of Yuengling (the oldest brewery in the United States!)
