Boulder, CO- The Rams of Colorado State were looking to avenge the loss they suffered at the hands of the Michigan Wolverines last season. They came out and did just that behind a great overall performance. Their offense and defense played very well throughout and the rams dominated on both ends of the field. The Wolverines showed moments of brilliance that earned them the #4 ranking entering this weekend, it was just not enough to get them a win.
It was shaping to be a good, well-contested game early on as the teams were tied at 2-2. From that point forward, CSU went on a 6-1 run taking an 8-3 lead into halftime. The story of the first half was CSU draws and free positions; CSU won 5 straight draws and six of their eight goals were on free position shots.
The 2nd half started off promising for the Wolverines as they closed the gap to four, 9-5, and looked poised to make a comeback. However, the Rams regained control scoring the next six goals to take a nine goal lead. They Wolverines fought and played hard, but could not overcome the Rams' full field domination.
The Wolverines have one game remaining in the Mile High Invitational; they will hope to take down Colorado on their home turf tomorrow morning.
