Date: February 23, 2013
Site: Ann Arbor, MI (Oosterbaan)
Score: Michigan 19, Miami (OH) 7
Next Event: At Oosterbaan Field House (Ann Arbor, MI) on Sunday February 24, 2013 at 1:00 PM against Central Michigan University
Ann Arbor, MI- Michigan came out strong, scoring the first six goals of the game and never relinquished the lead after that. It was a great scoring day for #1 Julianne Patterson and #15 Katie Mezwa as they scored 6 and 4 goals respectively. Additionally, Michigan, and Patterson in particular, had a much improved game on the draw.
After Michigan took the 6-0 lead, Miami (OH) took a timeout to try and regroup. They managed to be more competitive matching Michigan’s next four goals with four goals of their own. However, at halftime the Wolverines regrouped and got back into the swing as they looked to run away with the game in the second half.
During the second period Michigan continued to demonstrate their dominant performance. The RedHawks just did not have an answer for the Wolverine’s offensive firepower; and Michigan’s defense played a great game stifling scoring attempts and forcing turnovers.
The Wolverines will look to continue their outstanding performance as they are back at Oosterbaan tomorrow at 1PM to take on the Chippewas from Central Michigan University.
