Michigan finish regular season with a strong comeback Win

Date: April 7, 2013

Site: Ann Arbor, MI (Elbel Field)

Score: Michigan 12, Minnesota 10

Next UM Event: Conference championship quarterfinals in Columbus on May 20th.

Ann Arbor, MI - Michigan came home from their road trip on Saturday night, arriving just in time to cheer for their mighty basketball team, who clinched their spot in the National Championship game. The team was excited to carry forward their winning momentum from their victory over Ohio State on Saturday afternoon, and complete the weekend with a sound win over visiting Minnesota.

Michigan led for much of the first half, but only by as many as 2, and the teams were also tied 3 times: at 1, 4 and again Minnesota tied the game at 6 heading into halftime. After halftime, Minnesota came out strong, and scored 2 goals (6-8) before Michigan answered back with their first of the second half (7-8). From there, the Gophers scored again to go up 2 (7-9) before Michigan found their way again and answered with 2 goals to tie the game at 9. Michigan then scored again, and Minnesota tied it again at 10, and from there, Michigan dug deep and finished the game with 2 final goals to seal the game 12-10. The Wolverines were missing 4 starters for their game against Minnesota and played tough with all the heart they could muster up (and only 2 subs). It was a great victory for Michigan, as it was the end of a long weekend and was the final game of their regular season schedule.

It looks like Michigan will be the #2 seed in the conference tournament in Columbus May 20-21, and will look to rally and extend their post-season with 3 more wins. The Wolverines are hopeful that they will get another chance to play Pittsburgh, where they hope for a repeat of last season where after losing to Pitt in the regular season, managed to win the conference championship, beating Pitt in the finals.
