Michigan snaps losing streak against bitter rival OSU
Date: April 6, 2013
Site: Akron, OH (Archbishop Hoban HS)
Score: Michigan 13, OSU 8
Next UM Event: Against Minnesota at 11:00 AM in Ann Arbor, MI, Elbel Field.
Akron, OH- Michigan was hungry to regain the taste of victory, and who better to beat than southern rival Ohio State Buckeyes. Additionally, Sydney Franko, freshman, got her first start at goalie for the Wolverines and played a great game. OSU looked to be off to a good start early, but the Wolverines refused to leave Akron without a victory.
The Buckeyes took a 3-1 lead before Michigan came back and managed to even the score at three. From that point the teams traded goals as they went into the halftime with OSU leading 6-5. The Wolverines were playing much better offensively in the game as five different players managed to score.
Michigan picked up their intensity on both ends of the fields in the second half. They forced multiple turnovers and used great passing to set up shots on goals. The Wolverines outscored the Buckeyes 8-2 in the second to secure a passionate, hard-fought win.
The Wolverines hope this is the first win in a 5-game winning streak, which would include a game against Minnesota tomorrow morning, and hopefully 3 more victories at the conference tournament in Columbus (May 20-21).
