Pitt hands Michigan their 5th straight, tough loss
Date: April 6, 2013
Site: Akron, OH (Archbishop Hoban HS)
Score: Pitt 8, Michigan 4
Next UM Event: Akron, OH, Saturday April 6th, against OSU at 4:30 PM ET
Akron, OH- This game was very defensive and one of the lower scoring games Michigan has played in the year. However, it was unfortunately the Pittsburgh Panthers that walked off the field with the win. Although Michigan played well on defense, they could not get the offense in sync and came up short.
A big problem for the Wolverines, a major factor of the lackluster offense, was that they spent a large portion of the game on defense. This was especially true in the first half, as Pitt took a 6-1 lead, before Michigan was able to score two consecutive goals heading into halftime (3-6).
The second half had even less scoring as Pitt found the back of the net twice, and Michigan only managed to do so once. It was very poor half, especially for a team like Michigan. They were struggling to get into a groove in all aspects of the game, but most notable was their inability to score. Michigan took 15 shots in the first half and managed to score only 3. The second was much less prolific as they only got off 4 shots on goal (and again, scored only 1).
Michigan will have a short rest and will need to regroup before they finish off the day’s double header against OSU.
