What version of the LaserWriter software do you have? I think this is
normal (broken) behavior for LaserWriter 7; at least, I get the same
behavior from the one System 7.1 machine at work. The MacOS 8.1
machines all print fine.
I think if you are running System 7.5 or later you can install the
LaserWriter 8 driver and associated software. Unfortunately, it
doesn't work with System 7.1 afaik.
