  • Where will I be staying?
  • Are there cooking facilities in the dorm?
    Oxford Housing has a community kitchen available for your use.
  • How will I get around the Campus and Ann Arbor?
  • What is the weather like in Ann Arbor?
    Summer weather in Michigan can range from 50 to 98 degrees F (10-35 C); from rainy and very humid to very sunny and dry. We recommend that you bring clothing that can be layered.
  • What should I bring or send ahead?
    pillow phone card
    sheets extra money for normal living

    normal things you want in your room!

    The dorms are equipped with cable hook-up. Air-conditioners are available at an additional expense to the student with a doctor's note. There are MANY, MANY computers available on campus, predominately PC's. The dorms are wired, so feel free to bring your laptop with modem or ethernet card.
  • Who will I meet?
    The UM campus is a pleasant environment in a small and safe US town, Ann Arbor, Michigan. During the summer, there are many faculty members and students who are on campus. UM has an active group of Chinese students and a large Chinese Student and Scholar Association who are always available to assist their Chinese friends.

  • Where can I buy supplies?
    Central campus is located in the middle of tons of shops. Local book and supply stores (State Street and S. University) offer office supplies.
    Within 15 minutes driving time from campus, there are: 2 Meijer's (groceries, household, clothing), 1 major mall with anchor stores, and 3 Kroger (groceries), a Target, and a Big Kmart. The Meijer's and the mall are on the local bus route.
