Wags & Sunshine were the dog and cat that I had while growing up. Waggles was with us for 15 years. He was a Lhasa Apso / Maltese mix that we got from my Aunt Jan (she bred a white Maltese name Schotze with a black Lhasa Apso named Samson). When Waggles was hit by a car in 1993, my whole family cried for days and days. The little shit knew better than to run on the road. As a youngster he did it all the time. But in his old age (I had moved away by then), Mom had to tie him up whenever he was outside, because he had gone partially blind and almost fully deaf. He escaped one day, and before Mom could catch him, he bolted out onto the road. Mom and Sean buried Waggles in our backyard in his favorite afghan (the one in the picture above), crocheted by our neighbor "Beats" (Sean couldn't say "Beatrice" when he was little).  Rest in peace, little buddy. We have hundreds of great memories of you.

We had lots of other cats, but Sunshine was in our lives the longest and was the best cat. In her 8 years or so with us, Sunshine had over 6 batches of kittens! (That was before I knew about euthanasia and all the animals that have to die. Gimme a break; I was only seven!). One of my favorite pictures, is Sean holding a winter hat filled with tiny kittens. I wish I had taken more pictures of Wags and Sunshine!

Snooker & Toonces "Make Spoons"    Toonces was our sweet little kitten who was hit by a car when she was only a few months old, around 1994.  She was Simonie's predecessor.  Losing Toonces was a tragedy, but without that loss, Simonie would never have come into our lives and given us so much joy!
