The SCEP is collaborative effort between the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and various colleges and universities. Participating students are sent to work for the BLM for a summer, this enables them to apply the theories and skills that they have learned in the classroom to a particular job situation. The SCEP is a beneficial endeavor for the BLM as well because it allows them to develop relationships with educational institutions that will enhance efforts to recruit a diversified workforce.
