Overview: DEX is an international pre-professional organization for undergraduate college students targeting a variety of careers. Activities promoted by DEX help students market themselves for jobs and internships, network, and develop professional skills. Students also have the opportunity to compete against students from other universities in business case study competitions within Michigan and across the nation. DEX membership is an essential resource for future professionals that will benefit from marketing, management, entrepreneurial skills, and knowledge.

The University of Michigan chapter of DEX is affiliated with the College of Literature, Sciences, and the Arts. Michigan DEX is led by the DEX Executive Board, a board comprised of nine students and two faculty advisors. Its local chapters and state/provincial/territorial associations are a division of DECA Inc. Michigan DEX welcomes all University of Michigan undergraduate students.

The mission of DEX is to serve its diverse members as a professional organization, providing leadership and career-oriented opportunities to develop and enhance tomorrow's leaders.

Here is a listing of some of the things we offer:

Competitions - Every year, UM DEX participates in State and National business competitions against other colleges and universities. We have proved ourselves to be formidable competitors, often winning more than a third of the awards at the State Competition. Competitions are open to all who wish to participate and test out their skills against other college students. In preparation, DEX offers training sessions, mentoring, and practice tests to make sure members perform their best.

Speakers - DEX brings speakers from all backgrounds to discuss their experiences in the business world and the techniques and doctrines needed to succeed. From large corporations to startup technology firms to local business owners, each speaker gives insight into the challenges and struggles they have faced and learned from.

Workshops & Panels - DEX administers various workshops throughout the year on resume-building, communication, interviewing, and more. We also have internship panels with UM students sharing their real-life internship experiences. These workshops and panels help members with many of the public presentation that they may have to prepare for in the future. Fellow UM students also present problems, scenarios, and solutions to help hone these skills.

Social Activities - Members have the opportunity to network with other students and business professionals at DEX social activities throughout the year.

Executive Board: Michigan DEX is led by the DEX Executive Board, a board comprised of nine students and two faculty advisors. Members of the Executive Board are elected by DEX members at the end of every Winter Semester. Learn more >
