Overview: The DEX Executive Board is comprised of nine students and two faculty advisors. The Board is elected by DEX members in April of every year. The Board meets biweekly throughout the year.

Responsibilities: The President is the face of DEX, responsible for coordinating the e-board meetings and running the membership meetings including creating all meeting agendas. The president must also track e-board summer progress and keep the e-board on task throughout the year.

Responsibilities: The Executive Vice President supports the president and provides advice and insight to the rest of the executive board, organizes philanthropy events and helps oversee committees. Responsibilities carried over from being the previous Vice President of Communications position include supporting member communications by creating and updating the official DEX website.

Responsibilities: The State Ambassador serves as the liaison between the University of Michigan DEX chapter, the state chapter, as well as the national chapter. The State President coordinates activities and communication between DEX chapters in Michigan and plays a crucial role in organizing the Fall Leadership Conference and the State and National Competitions.

Kay Erdman - FACULTY ADVISOR |

Kay Erdman has served as faculty advisor for the University of Michigan chapter of DEX since its founding in the 2000-2001 school year. In April 2005, after nomination by the 2004-2005 officers, she received the University of Michigan Advisor of the Year award for her work with DEX.
Building on twenty-two years' experience in international communications consulting and with major U.S. corporations, Kay is currently a faculty member in Managerial Communication at the Ross School of Business (RSB) at the University of Michigan. Her areas of special expertise are: analyzing and improving organizational communications processes as well as initiating new capabilities; coaching executives and employee teams in more effective and efficient communication, including better leadership and management, personal writing style, and public speaking; and using communication as a problem-identification and problem-solving tool. Her experience includes aspects of organizational communication such as marketing, investor and employee relations, government and community affairs, advertising and media relations, with emphasis on optimizing communications to achieve organizational results. Special awards include Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) national Silver Anvil Awards in marketing and in environmental affairs.
After rising from account executive to senior vice president at Daniel J. Edelman, Inc., a premiere international communications consulting firm, Kay established the position of Director of U.S. Consumer Products Public Relations at S.C. Johnson & Son (Johnson Wax), later becoming Director of Corporate Affairs. Subsequently she served as vice president/corporate communications at Hoover Universal, Inc., and as vice president/communications at J.P. Industries, Inc., both Fortune 500 firms. Kay holds a BA from Vanderbilt University as well as master's degrees in romance languages (Emory University); technology assessment and management (Eastern Michigan University); business administration/MBA (Simmons College Graduate School of Management); and higher education/business (University of Michigan). Her research focuses on the essential relationship between communication abilities and effective leadership and management to achieve organizational and personal objectives. Kay also contributes in a number of community and UMBS public service capacities.

Lynne Sebille-White - FACULTY ADVISOR

Lynne Sebille-White is the Senior Assistant Director of Employer Relations at the Career Center at the University of Michigan. In previous years, Lynne has led several meetings within DEX about networking and the Career Center's resources. Lynne is a new co-advisor for the 2009-2010 school year.
