CHEMISTRY BIOLOGY INTERFACE
TRAINING PROGRAM
Faculty/CBI Trainee Requirements
Nominations and applications are no longer being accepted for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Dear Training Faculty,
As you know, our training program has been renewed for an additional
1 year (until 6/30/14). We will have five trainee slots available for the upcoming 2013-2014 academic year. I am now contacting you to encourage you to consider your nomination of a second (or
third) year graduate student that you feel would be appropriate
to participate in our program and be supported from 9/1/13-8/31/14.
For those students that you wish to nominate for the next academic year (2013-2014), you will need to send the
following information directly to Erik Benson no
later than JUNE 10, 2013 for appointments beginning Sept 1st, 2013.

Faculty Guidelines for Student Nomination (pdf)
Student Guidelines for Trainee Requirements (pdf)
Please send this information as an electronic copy to Erik Benson in the Chemistry Department.
After receiving the student nominations, a
Selection Committee will convene who will set a date to interview potential
trainees. The Selection Committee then choses the top candidate(s), and provides that information to the Program Committee, who ultimately decides who will be chosen as the recipient(s) of the CBI TP Award. It is my expectation that trainees will be appointed
for a 12-month period, with the potential to extend the period of support for an additional 12 months, providing the trainee is in good standing and making progress within the CBI Program.
I encourage faculty from all of our parent programs to submit
nominations. We are striving to develop a diverse group of
trainees, with expertise across the Chemistry/Biology Interface.
We also strongly encourage you to consider nominating students
from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the
sciences.
Best regards,
John
