I am a Survivor addict.  At the end of the first season, most viewers were shocked to learn that Richard Hatch was the winner.  Mark Burnett had us all fooled!  I had to find someone to talk to, so for the first time in my life, I got online and found a chat room.  That's where I met Holly from So-Cal...also a Survivor fan, but we had so many other things in common too: cats, gardening, and our love of words. Holly and I met online in 2000, but we met for the first time in person when she paid me a visit in Ann Arbor on September 6, 2002.  We spent a joyous 24 hours together, visiting the Matthei Botanical Gardens, dining at Grizzly Peak, looking at each other's photo albums, and even making a quick trip to Canada (Holly's first!).
My smallest and sweetest friend in the whole world, Elliott.  He's 4 pounds of miniature canine perfection.  His mom, Susan, made T-shirts for the Billiards Room.  That's how I met Elliott. Elliott was the biggest-smallest fan (and unofficial mascot) of the 2005 National Champion U of M Women's Softball Team
