University of Michigan friends

(when I was a student, not a staff member)

Halloween 1988 on 3rd Strauss, East Quad Michelle Toth, another East Quad buddy, came for a visit in 2000 Me and Casey, whom we jokingly called our "sexist, homophobic, chauvinistic friend."  He abused his TV privileges (on the 4th floor we got the best reception), but he kept us laughing, so we didn't mind.

  THEN

NOW
Tony and Angela, 1989-90.  Tony was our friend from Germany, whom we corrupted horribly in the time he was here. Tony emailed me this picture of him and his new wife in New York City, 2006.  NYC corrupted him more than we did!  :-) Halloween 1990 at our apartment on East University
Casey and Paige--another occasion (kegger) at our apartment on East University Spring Break 1991 in Toronto with Angela, Paige, and Rachel Derek shows Angela some "high tech shit" during our visit to her in Pittsburgh, 1993?
This was the last year of the Big Ten Bowling & Billiards Championship, held at the U of Minnesota in 1993.  It was quite a trip!  We piled into a 15-passenger van, left Ann Arbor at midnight and drove through the night.  We arrived Friday afternoon with enough time to go to the Mall of America, even though we hadn't slept yet!  Here's me and a banana at the mall. Here's my good friend, Dave, with a pineapple.  In retrospect, based on our respective shapes, I should have posed with the pineapple, and he with the banana.
Ciara, Angela, and Katie, three of my best U of M friends (although Ciara and I didn't actually know each other when we attended U of M) Scrapbooking fundraiser at Liz & Eoin's house for Ciara's marathon (Photo subtitled:  "I don't need to have a baby to scrapbook, do I?") At Liz's house again
We got together at Damon's in December 2002 for "shots" My favorite picture of our girls weekend: UP Road Trip 2002 Niamh, Ange, Ciara, and I at the Indigo Girls concert in the summer of 2004
My favorite photo of UP Road Trip 2006:  This was near Copper Harbor, atop Brockway Mountain....or, as we couldn't help but call it, "Brokeback Mountain" On the lakeside porch at Harbor Haus restaurant.  You can't go any further north in Michigan than this! Here we are in the belly of a retired copper mine (one of two that we visited during UP 2006).

Cleary University Friends

It all started in Jim Campbell's Econ class in the summer of 1995 (?).  It was too blasted hot at the school, so we met every week at a coffee shop in downtown Ypsi.  Dean Donna Franklin stopped in to say hi during one class, and we became fast friends.  We continued to meet several times a year, mostly at Christmas, to have a big meal, sometimes small gift exchange, and great conversation together.

Me and my best Cleary buddy, Jane Litton.  This was at the auction, 1995 or 1996 I believe. It was on this day, at the Cleary Auction, that I had my best hair day ever! 1996:  This was our most memorable get-together, at Donna's condo in Dexter.
We had "Eggs a Day Ahead" and "Donna's Mom's Lightship Potatoes," for both of which I snagged the recipe, and still prepare today! 1997, downtown Ann Arbor 1998, I think (the first year I had a "grown up" hairdo)
